About artist
Author of all knick-knacks presented on this site is Alicja Zemełka. Mrs Alicja is working every day at the
Education-Curative Unit of St Elizabeth's Sisters in Otwock where is looking after children with a cleft lip and cleft
palate.
She expend most of her free time to handicraft jobs.
About easter eggs
Eggshells are hand-painted with traditional methods, without using any mechanic tools. For special demand it may be used
eggshells previously etched with acid. Thanks to this, eggshell has snow-white colour, is more tough and, what is especially
important, acid disinfect the eggshell (also inside). Many kinds of paints and brushes are used.
Thanks to cover eggshell
with lacquer colors are given a gloss and paint is not loosing it's colour nor is wiped by touch. Patterns presented in
easter eggs gallery are only an example of artists abilities. In fact Mrs Alicja may paint eggshell in every pattern imagined by
the client. Finished easter eggs are packed into special, cylindric-shaped boxes made of transparent plastic. Packed in this
way easter eggs will endure every journey. Painting of 100 easter eggs (hen's or goose's) lasts about 2 weeks. Painting of
one ostrich egg lasts one day. Easter eggs painted by Mrs Alicja are ordered among others by Cepelia stores and other gift
shops.
About boxes
Wooden boxes (made by turner) are, the same like eggshells, hand-painted only with traditional methods. Currently boxes are
available in two sizes: diameter 14 (6 in.) and 10 cm (4 in.)- hight accordingly 6,3 and 6 cm (2,5 in.). Thanks to cover with
lacquer boxes can be used without concern of wiping paint. Patterns presented in
boxes gallery are only an example of
artists abilities. Only one limit is an imagination. Painting of 100 wooden boxes lasts about 2 weeks of intensive work.
Boxes painted by Mrs Alicja are ordered among others by Cepelia stores and other gift shops.
Other
It is hard to list all numerous activities undertaken by Mrs Alicja in the field of artistic handicraft. Among them is worth
to mention especially:
- manufacturing and painting of porcelain services and figurins;
- manufacturing boxes covered with varicolored strand of straw;
- painting cepelian dolls heads.
Moreover Mrs Alicja is highly appreciated specialist of making various decorations and stage designs.
